Chelsea

Have been visiting New York for the last 14 years, but have never spent any time in Chelsea (other than staying at a hostel there once - but that%26#39;s another story !). Is there a main street/streets that I should head for to start exploring the area ? Any suggestions on things worth seeing would be appreciated. Love a good photo opportunity. Would like to get an overall feel for the area.

Chelsea

8th Avenue between 16th Street and 23rd Street is known as the ';Chelsea strip.';

In the 1990%26#39;s, Chelsea was the hub of gay nightlife. Some of the gay nightlife has migrated north to Hell%26#39;s Kitchen now. Chelsea retains its very diverse characteristics.

Restaurants and shops line 8th Avenue. There are a fair amount of restaurants opening along Ninth and Tenth Avenue now. Cafeteria is an excellent place to go for a bite (open 24 hours) on 7th Avenue.

Chelsea remains very vibrant and fun.

23rd Street is the big cross street, always very busy.

The extreme west of Chelsea is where a lot of new building is going on.
