Alaskan Amber???

Hi, I will be visiting New York in Sept for a Yankees game, does anybody know of any bars that sell Alaskan Amber beer. I had it in Oregon in May and really enjoyed.

All help appreciated.

Alaskan Amber???

I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s sold outside of that region. The only way we%26#39;ve been able to get it is to have it shipped. If someone replies that you can get it on tap in New York, my husband will have our house on the market in a week.

Alaskan Amber???

We don%26#39;t have it here. From the Alaskan beer website:

Thanks Cath and Alice, I have read their website and thought this may be the case. I was hoping some enterprising bar had found out how good it is and started getting it shipped.

I suppose I will now have the awful task of sampling other beers to try and find one similar to it, it will be a hard job but I feel I must do it!!!!

Mick: Haven%26#39;t you heard - DRINK LOCAL. New York has some fine breweries that can stand up to any beer any where. Here are some recommendations:

Brooklyn Brewery. Garrett Oliver is just a great brewer. You are too early for the Black Chocolate Stout, but I%26#39;d recommend the Pennant Ale 55, the IPA, or the Brooklyn Brown. The Brewery is open for beer and fun on Friday nights. GO.

Capt Lawrence. Located in Pleasantville NY, Scott Vacarro is a master of the brewing arts. Try his smoked porter for a rich tasting experience. Also recommended is the extra gold, an extremely hoppy brew. Six Point out of Brooklyn also has some fine products.

Harvest Moon is for tourists and locals alike. I love their oatmeal stout.

I also loved Alaskan Amber, when I was in Alaska. But in NY, drink local.

A friend of mine lives in Pleasantville and visits once in a while. I don%26#39;t even let her in unless she has brought a growler of the porter for me...and I don%26#39;t share it with her. Great stuff.

Oftentimes, there are legal issues that prevent specific brands of beer from being shipped across state lines. I know that my hometown favorite is banned for life NYC due to some tangles with the Boar%26#39;s Head deli meat company.

Hi Mel, thanks for the tips. It is funny, but I buy Brooklyn Lager, from an off licence that is not too far from me, now and again. Not too bothered at missing the stout as not my thing, I visit Ireland 5-6 times a year and never touch Guinness. It is a shame I can not go on the Friday to the brewery, we arrive on a Friday lunch time, I do hope so anyway, and then we are off to see the Yankees v Rays, it sounds like it may be fun.

I will do a google on brewpubs and try and find something that will be of interest.

Thanks again.

Mick
