Honeymoon in NY...Nobu

Hi all,

In a month myself and my partner are heading to NY for a 2 day/night trip for the end of our honeymoon. We will only have one decent evening in NY due to silly flight times but on our last night we really want a blow out meal at a pucker (english slang = awesome) restaurant!

We really like asian/orinetal food so we thought about going to Nobu, I know its a chain but it gets such good reviews. We were thinking of Nobu 57. So can we get a reservation for a months time on a Saturday?

We are actually not keen on Sushi but love cooked Japenese food, does Nobu have a varied cooked menu that we can choose from also? Or if not can someone recommend another restaurant (where staying in Midtown)?

Finally, how much would a meal for 2 cost (approx) with say 2 courses and drinks (wine, sake) etc?

Oh and how much are you expected to tip?

Thanks everyone!

If you want an easy site to book a restaurant, specifically asian, go to

opentable.com

put in the date/time and put in the cuisine type (or leave it open). It will give you access to reservations as well as each restaurant%26#39;s web site and menu. You can then get an idea of how much your meal would cost. As for tips, around 18-20%.

Some other ';pucker'; type restaurants would include (varying opinions of course):

Tao - very loud, food is decent, very pricey, very trendy, dark place.

Morimoto New York - this is of Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto fame.

Asia de Cuba - Chinese/Cuban fusion cuisine. I love this place. They have regular tables as well as a ';communal table'; in the center of the restaurant.

Kobe Club - very expensive, specializes in Kobe beef. I%26#39;ve actually never eaten here, but may in the near future.

Le Colonial - french vietnamese cuisine.

Many, many others. I%26#39;m sure others will chime in.

Having thought about it a bit longer and looking at all the things to do. My future hubby and I have thought a helicopter tour round the city would be fun. And with this credit cruch we probably can%26#39;t afford this and a blow out meal.

Could people please recommend a Japenese Restaurant (not just sushi-as we don%26#39;t like this) that is a more reasonably priced?

Thanks

I would go to Matsugen, which just opened, is very hot right now, and has many non-sushi options:
