Can you take the Path on 33rd Street back to Jersey City? Or do you have to take the PATH at WTC to get back to Jersey City? Any other way to get back from say Times Square area to Jersey City besides the PATH?
Thanks!
PATH to Jersey City
You can do it. The 33rd street line has trains that go to Journal Sq which is in Jersey city, there you can transfer to a train to Exchange Place. You can also transfer at Pavoina/Newport. On weekends and at night you might have to take the train to Hoboken and then transfer there. More info at www.panynj.com/CommutingTravel/path/html/.
Other options are New Jersey transit buses trains and light rail, but are not as convienent more info: www.njtransit.com. There is also ferry service. Finally you could take a car service. Of all of these the path is most convient. During daytime I%26#39;d take the 33rd street path pavonia/newport than transfer to the WTC bound train. When the path is running on its night/weekend schedule I%26#39;d take the E train to WTC and connect with the path there unless the $2 savings is important to you, then I%26#39;d just bite the bullet and go with the hoboken/wtc option. The ferry is nice but has limited runs and won%26#39;t help you much outside of rush hours.
PATH to Jersey City
First, there%26#39;s more than 1 PATH stop in Jersey City so it depends on which stop you need. Pavonia, Grove St. or Journal Square, yes. For Exchange Place (the Hyatt) you%26#39;d have to change trains. Here%26#39;s a map which will make it easier to understand (I hope)

If you%26#39;re going to the Hyatt, since you need to change trains, I THINK it%26#39;s 6 of one, half dozen of another whether you take the subway from midtown to WTC stop and then get on the PATH train OR take the PATH to Pavonia and then change trains 1 stop for Exchange Place. From Times Square, it would make more sense to take the subway to WTC and then the PATH. Not sure if there%26#39;s another way to go.
Sorry, I didn%26#39;t see Al%26#39;s response before posting. I think we%26#39;re both saying about the same thing.
Thanks! My sister is heading to the Hyatt in Jersey City today! I was unsure what to tell her since we stayed in Manhattan last week. This information helps so much! Thanks!!
Also, did not know if downtown would be safe at night with 2 little kids. (to take subway to PATH WTC) or PATH to PATH.
Safe, yes, or as safe as a train platform can be. With little kids just be careful of the tracks. Keep the kids away from the edge. (that%26#39;s the mom in me speaking)
Thanks again. I will pass on the info! I went last week and it was wonderful. However, we did get off of the NY Waterway Bus too soon and got lost in Hell%26#39;s Kitchin. Had to hike up to West 57th. Manhattan Club. We were carrying all of our luggage. It was quite a day! We loved the city.
