Journey with the Nr 6 bus

I was thinking about taking the nr 6 bus down to the Staten Island ferry instead of the subway. I am wondering how long the journey would take from 28th street?

1/2 hour minimum - maybe more like 40 minutes. If there%26#39;s traffic it could be an hour. Stops at every other corner and on the weekend you can wait 15-20 minutes between buses minimum.

But, buses are good, especially with your son on a first trip - can see a lot more than on the subway. I am constantly seeing things I want to backtrack to explore....
