Passing through Lake Placid - what to do?

Hi there!

I am travelling from Toronto to Montreal this weekend, and I have decided to drive south through the Adirondacks on my way back. we are hoping to arrive in the area mid-morning on Sunday, and I am wondering if anyone can recommend how to spend a couple of hours? I have heard only great things about Lake Placid and the surrounding area and perhaps a scenic route for us to take or a memorable place to stop would be fantastic. We are a young fun-loving couple who have never visited the area before and we are open to any suggestions!

Thanks in advance! :)

Cheers!

How about taking a ride down the bobsled run?

I agree with previous post on the bobsled run. You should also should visit Whiteface Mountain - it%26#39;s about a 1/2 hour ride from the town of Lake Placid. A very nice scenic ride. You can take the chairlift to almost the top of the mountain or take your car to the very top. Incredible views from either especially at the very top of the mountain. If you go in the afternoon you can come back to Lake Placid for a nice dinner. Try the Boathouse on Mirror Lake. Nice dining and they have an outdoor patio if your so inclined. It%26#39;s located on the opposite side of the lake where the shopping is located and it has beautiful views of the high peaks. Enjoy.
