A restaurant to avoid in Alexandria Bay

My husband and I enjoyed a holiday driving down to Florida from Canada with our 3 children aged 6, 4 and 2. We planned our route back to come through Alexandria Bay, expecting it to be a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, the restaurant that we chose to eat supper in did not meet our expectations by a long way.

We chose a restaurant called Riverhouse Riverboat.

The food was sub standard - we ordered 3 children%26#39;s meals, 2 bowls of soup and 2 adult entrees which came with salads. Out of all the food that arrived, we returned the majority of the 2 entrees, 1 salad and 2 children%26#39;s meals.

The salads were literally swimming in the dressing, the child%26#39;s spaghetti and meatballs were quite simply disgusting and the entrees that arrived were of a very dubious quality, did not taste fresh or nice and took over an hour to be served to us - and still arrived barely warm.

The waitress was very apologetic and said she wished she could more however it is not their policy to refund amounts for poor food, and said the only solution she was allowed to offer was to bring more of the same food. We declined.

Finally, we were able to talk to the manager, who said all she was prepared to do was take one of the entree fees off the bill, despite acknowledging the fact that we had returned a lot of food.

We left the restaurant and Alexandria Bay feeling hungry, fed up and resenting the fact that we had just been forced to pay over $75 for food that really did deserve to be in the garbage.

The manager obviously thought we were unreasonable, and failed to apologise for anything.

We were lucky enough to be able to eat out at least once every day whilst on our holiday and this was definitely our worst meal and experience.
