It%26#39;s not the first time I%26#39;ve been there. It%26#39;s probably not even the first time I%26#39;ve posted on the topic, but I feel compelled to say it again: Rosa Mexicano is awesome!
(Although I don%26#39;t understand why it%26#39;s not ';Rosa Mexicana';...)
I just came back from lunch at at the 18th street location, near Union Square. I realize this is not as ';authentic'; as what you can get in Queens or Red Hook, but it sure beats those ubiquitous Manhattan take out joints where they put bok choy in the burritos.
I had the delicious house salad, beef enchiladas in mole (served with big bowls of rice and black bean refritos sprinkled with queso blanco), and a demitasse of white sangria for $40 - including the tip and free chips and salsa (verde and chipotle).
The word ';orgasmic'; is overused in the context of dining, so I wont go there. But I will say this: time for my siesta.
Have a great weekend, amigos!
I know it's a chain and I don't care!!!JAWP ..... wow ..... are you now one of them .... dare I say it ..... them ..... them %26#39;foodies%26#39;? Please don%26#39;t tell me you%26#39;re now also blogging Chowhound, taking notes about local food carts, clipping restaurant review articles, looking up bios of celebrity chefs and scanning missed episodes of %26#39;Top Chef%26#39; on Youtube. Hey ..... if you are then it%26#39;s okay ..... but please just don%26#39;t tell me about it. BTW ..... Will you be watching the Olympics this weekend?
Via con dios ..... mi amigo.
I know it's a chain and I don't care!!!Who are you and what have you done with J-A-W-P ?
Rosa Mexicano is not really a ';chain.'; I wouldn%26#39;t consider three locations in Manhattan a chain.
Glad you enjoyed your lunch there. Definitely better than Chili%26#39;s or Chi-Chi%26#39;s, IMO.
That%26#39;s weird..I just remembered we have a Mexicana Rosa (they switch words around in titles sometimes because of the French)in Montreal. Sounds like the same menu.
Ken-
Yeah, I know but I believe they also have locations in other cities.
And it wasn%26#39;t a demitasse...I should have said ';a half carafe white sangria';. Which may explain my maudlin and - some may say- overly enthusiastic endorsement.
LotusPath - don%26#39;t worry, tomorrow it%26#39;s back to Spam and YooHoo for the rest of the summer.
There is one in DC.
That salsa I made last week for CSN without Y was their recipe JAWP. Got the cookbook at the Strand 2 wks ago and couldnt wait to make something from it. Now, I need a molcajete to make their other salsa....
and, I dont think of it as a no go chain when its high quality and/or starts here....
Yeah, sorry to break it to you, but it has more than 1 location outside of New York. A co-worker called it overpriced for what you get, but she judges restaurants on whether they have a neat patio. I%26#39;ve avoided it up to now, but I might go this weekend after reading your review. It%26#39;s near our IKEA. My weekend is now planned!
Let%26#39;s just all agree that J-A-W-P is the worst person on Earth now that Pol Pot is dead.
