Cab numbers to servce LIC

We are staying at the Quality Inn LIC during our week long stay in NYC due to the extortionate prices that Manhatten hotels are charging! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

So we will have to commute to midtown etc.

I don%26#39;t mind doing this, but I%26#39;m sure they%26#39;ll be days where I%26#39;ll feel lazy, or even in the evening where we have to catch a show where it%26#39;ll be much easier to just cab it.

I doubt very much that there%26#39;ll be cabbies cruising around LIC.

So could anyone give me a few phone numbers which I called call to book a cab please.

Thanks.

While few cabs cruise Queens, you should be able to snag one in Queensborough Plaza as it heads towards the Queensborough Bridge to Manhattan. You might even see one on Northern Boulevard.

Also be aware that you have the 39th Avenue station of the N and W train around the block, and two blocks down Northern Boulevard there is an entrance to the big Queens Plaza subway station, where you can get the E, R, and V trains.

Also be aware that all cabs in Manhattan MUST take you back to LIC. Don%26#39;t make the dopey tourist mistake of saying to the cabbie, before you get in, ';Do you go to Queens????'; In fact, don%26#39;t say anything to the cabbie before you get in. Just get in, and THEN tell him that you are going to 30-03 40th Avenue in Long Island City, just off of Queens Plaza (yes, it is really Queensborough Plaza, but most just say Queens Plaza), and to use the Queensborough Bridge to Northern Boulevard; make the left onto 40th Avenue just after you turn onto Northern. If he objects (he shouldn%26#39;t; it isn%26#39;t that far into Queens), tell him too bad, he has to do it, you%26#39;re not getting out of the cab, and the more he complains the smaller his tip will be.

Cheers for the tip Greenwhiteblue.

Just out of curiosity...what sort of reply would i get if my first words were ';do you go to Queens?';

Do cabbies hate driving to LIC/Queens??

Having traveled to queens a bit most cab drivers will say ';hop in'; or ';where in queens'; Some might say ';I don%26#39;t go there'; or ';no';. Your hotel should have numbers of car services that will take you to TS or 5th Avenue. But you must be able to tell them where in 5th you want to go as it is a pretty long street, from Washington Square up to the northern end of manhattan.
