Dinner cruise on Lake Cayuga from Ithaca-any input?

We%26#39;ll be in the area next month. Anyone offer opinions regarding the Dinner cruise on the lake?

Or any other Finger Lakes cruises, if you have a preference. Thanks.

Dinner cruise on Lake Cayuga from Ithaca-any input?

They are under new management, and a new boat (new to them, not a %26#39;newly built%26#39; boat), so not much info for you. Seem like nice people, they do a bit of catering also. The cruises aren%26#39;t hugely popular around here.

You might like The Boatyard Grill in Ithaca for nice lake views, good food, and hit-or-miss service (either excellent or awful).

Thanks for the input.

I%26#39;ve been on the brunch, dinner and happy hour cruises. They are really fun and you get to see so many beautiful places. I haven%26#39;t been on the ';new'; boat yet, but it is much bigger than the old one.

The food was good, but there are a ton of great restaurants in Ithaca. If you want the boat experience, do the happy hour cruise and then eat somewhere else.

The Boatyard is good, but I don%26#39;t care for seafood, so the menu is limited. But it does have a great location!

Thanks for the info. I%26#39;m with you on the seafood. We%26#39;re going to be in the area early next week, so your review is very helpful. Looking for something a little different, thanks again.

No problem...

Here are some restaurant suggestions in case you need any:

Moosewood (famous vegetarian place)

Madeline%26#39;s (on the commons, a little overpriced, nice desserts)

Fine Line Bistro (State St. - pretty new, very cozy)

Willow (Fall Creek)

Heights (Community Corners)

Pangea (3rd St)

Dijon or Mustard - Mustard just opened on the Commons and specializes in Comfort food. Dijon has been around a while and has the same owners but does French Food.

Banfi (Statler Hotel, Cornell)

The Antlers (a personal favorite, more in the country on Rte 366)

John Thomas (on 96 near Ithaca College, great steaks)

There are many more! There are also some less expensive ones around, but those are some of the %26#39;nicer%26#39; restaurants around.

Enjoy the trip!

Always helps to have a backup or Plan B. Thanks for your knowledge of the area.

Update - Did the cruise last Tuesday night(8/5/08), not crowded at all but expected that, about 50 people. Was nice, meal was fine, only complaint was there was no commentary when we were on the lake, could have added to the experience. Service was good. Weather/rain held off, and was nice and cool as we were returning to Ithaca.
