Smokin - When do you want to go? That makes a big difference on what I would recommend.

I prefer the state campgrounds in the Adirondacks - but it is still summer and they are fairly busy. Here is where you can get information on them:

http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/7825.html

Of the ones I%26#39;ve been to, for the least crowded, I%26#39;d consider any of the 3 on Piseco Lake - they have no hot showers or flush toilets, and so they tend to be a less popular. (Point Comfort, Little Sand Pt, Poplar Point). The bathrooms are fine though (I think).

I also like Lake Harris and Lake Durant. I have a foggy memory of Lake Eaton, but I think that was good too.

You might also call the Piseco Irondequoit Inn and ask about their campsites. I walk by there often, and they seem quite uncrowded, but I can%26#39;t really tell what the arrangement is there.

Busier campgrounds that we%26#39;ve been to include Moffat Beach, Eight Lake, Limekiln, Rollins Pond. If they offer kids%26#39; programs that%26#39;s a sign that they are big and busy.

As you know, so much of camping is hit or miss. If you have good fellow campers it can be so pleasant. But if you get involved in a large group, or young partiers, etc. it can be bad.

And as always, take all precautions for bears.

I agree with all of Carmen%26#39;s advice.

A also like the Brown Tract Pond State Campground, which is pretty remote.

thank for your help i made resevations for POINT COMFORT campground the site seems remote enuff i appreciat thanks again

Smokin - If you can get your hands on a kayak or a canoe, ask the ranger to point you in the direction of Fall Stream. It%26#39;s a beautiful paddle and you can access it either from Piseco Lake (with a very short carry over a road) or put in from Old Piseco Road.

Have a relaxing trip.
