Travelzoo hotel specials

I just checked out travelzoo website and found $199/night special in NYC for 4 star hotel. It is a good deal, however has anyone approached anything a bit cheaper? lets say $149/night lets say for a 3 star hotel?

these prices are nuts !!!

So I%26#39;ve been watching hotel prices all week and $249/night at the Millenium Broadway is cheap! However I see missed reviews. Anyone recently stayed here? Is it worth it?

Travelzoo hotel specials

I%26#39;ve never seen $149 on travelzoo for a Manhattan hotel on travelzoo. You occasionally see $169 or $189 for something like the Roosevelt (*3). As to ';worth it'; for Mill. B%26#39;way, the issue is compared to what. It%26#39;s centrally located, has views, is a good hotel but you can%26#39;t get a room for more than 2 adults or 2 plus a child.

I don%26#39;t know what I was being so picky/paranoid about. I went ahead and booked for 2nd weekend in Sept. for $249.00/night plus tax. I assume that%26#39;s not too bad for the time of year and location! :)

$199 is not expensive for NYC, especially for a 4-star hotel, but it really depends on the location. If you are coming from outside the USA, you need to stay near mid-town (near Time Square), but if you are from the USA, stay away from Time Square. Time Square is too crowded to be enjoyable. Besides, you%26#39;ll be able find most of the shops they have in Time Square near your local mall. For example, I fail to see the need to go inside Toys R Us at Time Square for an American visitor. You can get stuff cheaper (with less crowds) at your local Toys R Us.

Also, beware that there is close to $50 per day of various taxes that the hotel/city imposes on your final bill.

If you know the name of the 4* hotel that%26#39;s asking for $199, maybe someone can give you an idea of how good that hotel is.

I know if you bid on Priceline, depending on the dates you have chosen, people have been getting $160 for a 4* hotel, especially on weekends. So you might check out biddingfortravel.com for the successful hotel bids for NYC.

I did bid on a Time Square hotel via Priceline last week. It was $255 (plus tax came to $300ish) for 1 night stay. Our successful bid was for the Millenium Hotel. I can%26#39;t say enough how convenient this hotel is. It%26#39;s 1/2 block from Time Square. I was expecting a very small room, but from others I%26#39;ve learned to request a king-size bed. There were 4 people in our party (2 adults and 2 small children) and we are used to sleeping on a king size bed. Our alternative would be a room with 2 single beds. We got a room on the 17th floor. When I opened the door, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was large. It even had a small 2-seater sofa and 2 side sofa chairs and a regular coffee table.

The bathroom was clean. The carpet may not be as clean as it can be, but with such high turnover rate, it must have been hard for the cleaning crew to do a detailed job. On closer inspection, you can see that there is ink stains on the bed sheet and there were 2 missing pull knobs on the drawers. But since we were there for only 1 night, we didn%26#39;t use the drawers.

If you can get the Millenium Hotel for $160 or less on Priceline, I would highly recommend it. Oh, I forgot to say that our room overlooked the LG sign in the middle of Time Square. It%26#39;s so bright that at midnight, from our window, it looked like dawn.

We were able to get wireless internet from somewhere (not the hotel server) so we were able to surf the internet for the information we needed.

The subway is about 2 long blocks away, but it%26#39;s still very convenient.

Email me if you have any questions. We just left NYC yesterday so everything is fresh in my mind.

Just got back, (Tues) from staying at Millenium Broadway hotel for $199/night through TravelZoo. We had 3 people and one king size bed. They gave us a roll away for nothing because they could not give us a bigger room at check in.

The room was fine. Centrally located. Can%26#39;t beat the price. Times Square is crazy, but we toured and ate away from there.

The price is good. Looks like from previous postsmaybe can do a little better on Priceline?? Those rooms at that price do sell out so wouldn%26#39;t wait too long to book.

I think the prices of the same hotel varies depending on the date, so if you have shopped around and know what the going rate is, then if you think it%26#39;s a good deal, it%26#39;s a good deal.

Even within the same hotel, you can have good rooms and bad rooms. There is a bit of luck involved as well.

Priceline is generally 40%-60% off the on-line rack rate if you bid smartly and do a bit of research. It takes time and patience. So if you can find any hotels for prices lower than its on-line rack rate at TravelZoo or Hotwire, book it. Any hotels in NYC with a 4-star rating can%26#39;t be too bad, especially when it%26#39;s centrally located (and near a subway station).
