We are taking our mother to NYC for her birthday in late September. There will be 5 of us total. Are there hotel residences to rent? We want something nice. I would love something with 2 or 3 bedrooms. Any ideas?

Some of the hotels in the Affinia chain have two bedroom suites. There are several locations, but I am not sure which ones have two bedroom suites except I know the Affinia Manhattan does, but it is not considered the nicest of the Affinias (although we are staying there in December and can%26#39;t wait!)

If you want a cheaper rate, try going to NYC on the weekend. Weekday rates are generally higher. Hotel rooms that sleep 2 are averaging about $400/night (Time Square hotels). I don%26#39;t know the exact date of your travel. If you know it, check the Prices of the Sheraton, Hilton, and the Holiday Inn hotel chains and see what prices they are quoting you.
You will know what%26#39;s a good hotel deal once you start to do research into the rates on-line. If you see a good deal, book it right away.
You will need to have at least 2 rooms. So check the price of 2 rooms against a suite at Affinia.
Good luck!
Agree with what%26#39;s been said. There are a limited number of 2 bedroom suites in NYC and they will be very pricey in Sept. Many are also set up for families with kids so the second bedroom is often smaller with 2 twin beds. You%26#39;re often better off splitting up in 2 suites. The Affinia Dumont is very nice but only has studios and 1 bedrooms. But it%26#39;s one of the few places that has 2 queen sized beds in one suite. So 5 of you could fit in a 1 bedroom suite there with 2 queen beds and a sofabed. The problem is only 1 bathroom for all of you. With 2 studio suites you%26#39;d have 2 bathrooms. The Affinia Gardens is also very nice. Affinia hotels that have 2 bedrooms (Eastgate, Manhattan %26amp; Shelburne) are not as nice.
There are some b %26amp; b%26#39;s that can connect bedrooms. One example is

Thank you for your responses and suggestions.
I am also looking at apartments on VRBO. Do any of you have experience with that?
I have learned from this forum that renting apartments in NYC as a tourist is NOT a good idea. It%26#39;s often a scam and hotel rooms are the way to go.
Ive always stayed at the salisbury hotel, very large rooms with twin queen /king size beds,i know of families that have been and have said their rooms were very spacious, check out their web site for pictures and on here for visitors reviews of the hotel.
I don%26#39;t know your feelings on staying outside NYC and commuting in on the train, but we used vrbo and stayed at this property, http://www.vrbo.com/183905 with our family of 5.
Before you even think about renting an apt. from vrbo (or any other site) read this

If you want something ';nice'; a private apt. is not the answer. You never know what you%26#39;re getting or IF you%26#39;re getting something at all.
