JFK to Long Island CityAccording to directions from
hopstop.com
you take the AirTrain at JFK heading to Jamaica Station and at Sutphin/Jamaica station change to the E train heading downtown/to World Trade Center. Get off at Queens Plaza (it will be the 7th stop) and exit near intersection of Rt 25a %26amp; 41 st ave. walk out west on 41 st. turn right onto 29th st. They estimate a 6 minute walk. Travel time 58 mins. OR you can take a taxi which they estimate will cost $36.60
If you want to get these directions yourself on hopstop (they give a small map for the walking part) remember to select ';Queens'; as the borough for both JFK airport and the hotel address.
JFK to Long Island CityIf you decide to take a taxi instead, don%26#39;t count on the driver knowing where your hotel is. Make sure you take a map with directions. I experienced a problem with this when I stayed at the LaQuinta in Long Island City. I had to read the directions to the driver as he drove. He had no clue where it was. :o)
Very easy. The Air Train takes you to Jamaica where you can pick up the subway or the LIRR. The LIRR is extremely frequent. You could take an LIRR one stop to where it connects with the 7 train at Woodside. The Queensboro Plaza station on the 7 train is slightly closer to the hotel than the Queens Plaza station on the E train but they%26#39;re both very close.
For the sake of minimizing transfers, simply take the E express to Queens Plaza and walk the very short distance to the hotel.
Hi
My wife and I stayed in Long Island City last year. As we arrived quite late we decided to take a taxi to the hotel and that was about 40$ on the meter...I don%26#39;t think he was taking the fastest route :-( Anyway, I have a NYC trip report that I can share with you if you are interested. Send me a mail on gardkarlsen@hotmail.com and I%26#39;ll send it to you :-)
Regards
Gard
Thank you guys for prompt, sincere and informed advice.
