Antone know if Net10 Pay As You Go phones are available in New York, if so from where?.

We(group of 7) are arriving next Friday and then moving on to Florida so they seem good value at $30 plus 300 mins free.

Are calls between Net10 free, if so it would make sense to get 2 then.

Yes, they are available at 7-11 and Duane Reade stores.

No calls are free. All calls are 10 cents per minute, sending or receiving. 10 cents per minute for everything - it%26#39;s the simplest wireless system we%26#39;ve got.

Had not heard of this company until your post. It looks good online in terms of the price for airtime, but you should make sure wherever you%26#39;re going in Florida has decent coverage from them. They don%26#39;t say whose phone service lines they use and the map is not so easy to read but I note there are parts of Fla. without coverage. If you buy a phone from them, it may not be useable in the UK/Europe. Frankly, I%26#39;d buy an unlocked gsm phone either online or in the UK and maybe pay a bit extra for the airtime from T Mobile or AT %26amp; T, but you would then be assured of being able to use the phone elsewhere.

PS, on their website you can look for retailers. If you put in the zip code (postal code) of your hotel, it will list places that carry them. Doesn%26#39;t nec. mean they will have phones though.

There is a Duane Reade store near out hotel (Empire) so we%26#39;ll look in there on Friday, many thanks. I think at $3o (which I believe includes 300 min call time) is excellant value and possibly less expensive than converting out existing UK mobiles.
