New York history in pictures

Hi

On my visit to NY i would like to find a museum or gallary that shows old black and white pictures of people and scenes of people working in the streets of NY, PLUS working enviroments around the late 18th and early 19th centuary.I am also interested in the Irish quarters around that time. Can anyone help !!

Buffalo, NY did not officially exist (as a municipality) in the 18th century. And it didn%26#39;t really get off the ground until 1825, when the Erie Canal was built connecting Bflo to Albany, NY and hence, NYC. It was after this time when an influx of Irish (and German) laborers came to work the docks and the growing industries. Bflo was an important center of the industrial revolution in the USA in the 19th C.

We have had exhibits about the workers and the work they did of the kind the OP is interested, but I don%26#39;t know of one currently.
