How Scared Would You Be?

The elevators at the ESB broke down yesterday with visitors inside. Certainly not a desired situation. What do you think your reaction would have been had you been inside one of them?

How Scared Would You Be?

Not the end of the world. Where is your sense of adventure. It wasn%26#39;t 9/11. Electrical problems happen. Wasn%26#39;t the first, won%26#39;t be the last...

How Scared Would You Be?

The Skyfari at the Bronx Zoo broke down on July 9th -the day after we were on it and there was a power cut (outage?) the day we were there. The outage was a minor inconvenience for a short time and the Skyfari breakdown must have been a bit unpleasant for those that had to be rescued by fireman%26#39;s ladder or were stuck up there for 5 hrs. I know I wouldn%26#39;t have enjoyed it much given the lack of a toilet in the cablecars!!

I think I would have been pretty terrified TILL some communication was made..and finding out it was, in fact, electrical! It%26#39;s those first few seconds (or minutes) of NOT knowing what%26#39;s going on in the %26#39;world outside%26#39; that%26#39;s scary! Enjoy!

But does make one think about the wisdom of always going to the bathroom before getting on an elevator or a ride!

Wouldn%26#39;t have mattered if I had gone to the bathroom before if I was stuck for 5 hrs?!

That isone of my biggest fears. Being stuck in a subway is bad enough (at least you can get out , if need be) but being stuck in an elevator would be 100 times worse!

heard about this last night on the news and thought of all the tourists that were probably stuck, terrified and also very warm...however, it always reminds me of when i was a teenager and living in the East 60%26#39;s and got stuck in the elevator of our building with Burl Ives who played the guitar for me while we both waited to be rescued...brings back happy memories!

Is it true to say that NYC has quite frequent power cuts?

No, it%26#39;s not true. Where did you hear that?

Sometimes, due to heavy wind and rain storms, power will fail in some areas (power line goes down). It%26#39;s not exactly a banana republic.

I would have been terrified, but no more so than if it had happened in a lift in my home town. I%26#39;d have needed the loo the minute it happened....
