New Country Inn & Suites

There is a new Country Inn %26amp; Suites on EAST Henrietta road (there is another one on West Henrietta Road). I believe it opened within the last month. I got a very good rate, particularly for a chain that seems to get good reviews in other cities. Any info would be appreciated.

New Country Inn %26amp; Suites

Hi Nifty,

I think that used to be a Wellesley Inn and Suites (by LaQuinta). That road is under major construction right now too.

That%26#39;s all I know. What are you visiting here?

New Country Inn %26amp; Suites

thanks for the quick reply. On our way back from Niagara, we%26#39;re stopping in Rochester to visit Seabreeze Park and the Seneca park Zoo. I%26#39;ve acutally had second thoughts about the Country Inn this afternoon and may book the Holiday Inn express on 104 as it%26#39;s only a few minutes from each place. Any thoughts on that one?

Nifty - There are three Holiday Inn Expresses that are more or less on Rt 104 - the Irondequoit one is closest I think (2200 GOODMAN ST. N). That sits near a defunct mall, a Target and an IHop as well as some other restaurants on E. Ridge Rd in Irondequoit. The Holiday Inn Express in Webster is BRAND new (it%26#39;s been open about 2 months). That isn%26#39;t too far either. Both Irondequoit and Webster are typical suburbs - they won%26#39;t knock your socks off with anything special, but fine for an overnight.

Seabreeze is a small, fun amusement park. We love it because it%26#39;s old time Rochester - in fact it is still locally owned!

If you need restaurant suggestions or anything let me know. Otherwise, have a fun trip!

Great info! I chose the one on goodman Street (less expensive). We%26#39;re looking forward to seeing Seabreeze as we like old-time, family-type parks. I think we%26#39;re going to do the after 5, bring a pepsi can deal. Is it the type of place that gets crowded on a tuesday night?

LOL - I haven%26#39;t been there at night since about 1975 when I was in high school. So I have no clue! Be sure to ride the Jack Rabbit - it claims to be the third oldest all wooden roller coaster in the US. That alone makes it SCARY!!!

If you like Thai food one of our favorite little Thai restaurants is directly across the street from Sea Breeze - Churi%26#39;s Thai Food.

You should be fine on Tuseday night after 5, not too crowded!

Enjoy, love Sea Breeze, small and family like. Also the Zoo is great!

We are traveling to Niagra Falls and are planning to stay in Rochester for one night (visiting some colleges). I too, am looking for a clean, inexpensive place to stay. I was going to book the Country Inn %26amp; Suites on East Henrietta Road, was wondering if you saw it or stayed there? Is that area safe?. We are getting in on a Sunday night. I have two kids ages 16 %26amp; 11. Would Seabreeze park be a place for them to go? Any info would be appreciated.

It looks like you are just starting the college visit thing? In that case, I%26#39;d learn how to use Priceline%26#39;s Name Your Own Price if I were you.

East Henrietta Country Inn %26amp; Suites goes for between $49 and $60 at a 2 1/2* bid for Rochester South. (The other hotel that appears on that bid is the better Doubletree.)

Be SURE YOU UNDERSTAND the rules and risks of Priceline bidding - use Betterbidding.com or Biddingfortravel.com to learn.

The thing is, we did all of our college trips using Priceline and we saved a bundle. And we still use it! I just made reservations on Priceline for fall drop off and got a wonderful Residence Inn outside Boston for $43 (regular AAA rate $189/night) and a Courtyard outside Columbus for $50.

Anyway, the East Henrietta road area is perfectly safe, if annoying. The road is under major construction. The Courtyard in that same area is a better hotel - but probably more money. The Country Inn %26amp; Suites on West Henrietta Rd is a better property.

You might look at Holiday Inn Express on Monroe Avenue, or like I said above, in Webster (it just opened).

As for Seabreeze, we were there last week on a stop in Rochester on the way back from Niagara Falls. It%26#39;s a fairly small park in a neighborhood area on the shore of Lake Ontario. We have two kids (8,10) and liked it very much. There were probably a handful of rides the teenagers would go for - there is an old wooden coaster and a new steel mouse-type coaster that turns and spins and is one of the better rides we%26#39;ve ever been on. the park also has water park section with a handful of big water slides and a wave pool. Seabreeze is listed as the fourth oldest amusement park in the country (as is the wooden coaster), and it has that sort of small, nostalgic feel to it. If your kids only like big thrill rides, they%26#39;d probably get bored quickly. If you decide to go, the evening weekday rate is a great bargain. It%26#39;s $15.99 if you go after 5 p.m., and with a pepsi can you get an extra $5 discount (so it%26#39;s only $10.99 per person).

As for hotel, we stayed at the Holiday Express Irondequoit (on Goodman Road). It%26#39;s only a couple miles from the park, it%26#39;s clean and the area is fine. It%26#39;s right off Rte. 104 you can get to the other major roads around Rochester very quickly.

Nifty,

Glad you enjoyed Seabreeze and that the hotel worked out for you! Since I live here I have no need to stay in a hotel...but if it were me, I would have picked the Webster one due to the neighborhood difference. But it sounds like you did okay - and probably saved a little money as well. :)

We loved Seabreeze as kids and now my daughter actually prefers it to the bigger park (Darien Lake) which is about 45-60 minutes from here.
